Charlie Brown's Teacher Part 1

I got this from the Urban Dictionary (urbandictionary.com)

1. Charlie Brown Teacher
Any speech that has been slurred from drunkenness, distorted by lousy loudspeakers, or just rendered incomprehensible by other means. Refers to the "whaa-whaa-whaa" trombone effect from old Peanuts TV specials, indicating when an adult was speaking. Originally used in this context Feb. '06 on the DCRTV.COM (Washington area radio and television) website .

So Steve Tambellini was in the Edmonton Sun and on TSN and is telling everyone that he has nothing but confidence in the coaching and players and that they can turn things around. Ah huh...right...mmmm...ok. All I hear right now is the "whaa-whaa-whaa" until I see the Oilers walk the talk.

I am not alone in Oil country in the idea that MacTavish and the other management/coaches with the Oilers have used up all their get out of jail free cards with their lip service. I am tired of it because I just see the same results over and over again. They are doing the same things over and over again so they will get the same results.

It does not matter how many times our new GM goes to the media or how much MacT assures everyone that he "liked the effort," because if you are like me you will just turn your ear off until we actually see it on the ice.

Of course I am still a huge fan and will watch the games win or lose - don't get me wrong. I will be excited if they do turn it around and will be very happy to see guys like Penner and Gagner pick it up and start scoring.
What I am saying here is that you as fans (or other) should not be fooled. Do not "hope" your way again into each game because in reality the proof is just not there. We need to see the Oilers drastically turn it around in their system play, team vision, team identity, and even personnel before you can be confident that we can even beat a team like...well...St. Louis for example.

So take that for what you will and we will "hope" that the Oilers come out with a win tomorrow.

In part 2 I will explain more of why I do not believe Steve Tambellini. I guess you could say I believe in the Oilers long term, I just do not believe what they say right now. ...more later.
