BRODEUR OUT 3-4 MONTHS
It's kind of ironic. Just the other day I was saying to my wife that I would hate to be Kevin Weekes because you would have that bad feeling like when you go to a job and you feel like you are not contributing. You ever have a bad day at work and then you leave thinking that you could have done more? Well, maybe you don't. I have... and it's not the best feeling. Most professionals want to contribute and feel like they are helping out whatever "team" they are on. Now imagine having to be Brodeur's back-up.With Brodeur out 3-4 weeks to undergo elbow surgery, Weekes may have to play more games this month then he would have all year without the injury. What a huge blow to the Devils though.
That said, this opens up the list of teams that need a goalie. In my opinion, the Devils just cannot lean on Weekes to help them through this. He is a career back-up. There is no way I would risk a playoff spot on a guy that maybe was going to play 10 games this year.
So...do the Devils come knocking for Roloson? He has proved that he can go into a new team and perform well as he did with the Oil for the 2006 cup run. The Oilers have their best opportunity to move Roli right now with 4 or 5 teams looking for a better goaltending situation.
It will be fun to see how it plays out within the next few "weekes."
